My son's eighth birthday is approaching and as usual I'm wondering who is going to turn the search for his birthday present into yet another problem for which I have no easy solution.
"The box said this game was for children 8 and older, so it shoud be fine, right?" Not necessarily, I have to answer. Depending on the skill, he's at wildly different developmental levels. So while a puzzle for an eight year old or even a ten year old might keep him happy for hours, but if you're determined to get him a book, think beginning reader.
Then there's always "I know he likes music, so I got him this electric keyboard/drum/guitar." Well he does like music, and he might well like the electric music instrument you got him. Or he might run out the room screaming the minute he turns it on because it emits an off-putting high-pitched whine audible only to autistic folk like him and me (and maybe our cats).
The following website looks great to me. I'm hoping, oh I should just face it, I'm PRAYING these folks can take out some of the guesswork out of buying him a present.
